Description “Yaverland, a parish in the liberty of East Medina, Isle of Wight division of the county of Southampton, 8 miles East South East from Newport containing 92 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king’s books at ₤6.6.10˝, and in the patronage of J. A. Wright, Esq. The church has a Norman door, but is principally in the later English style.” –England Topographical Dictionary, by Lewis. |
